Thought for the Day
January 13

Some days it's not easy for us to shut out the world and to set aside a few minutes for ourselves to spend time in prayer. At times we can be more content with busyness instead of walking quietly in God's presence. But in order to be strengthened for the stress and temptations in life, we need to get alone with God and seek His guidance and strength.

In today's Gospel, Mark reminds us that the source of Jesus' amazing teaching and healing sprang from His practice of continual prayer. Even in the midst of His busiest days, Jesus day found the time to help people by ministering to their physical and emotional needs. Then after His out-pouring of compassion, He would go to a solitary place and pray, seeking the rejuvenating power of His Father's presence.

Praying every day will not guarantee us a trouble-free life, but it will lead us closer to Jesus . We can be certain that He will minister to us in His own way and in His own time.
