Thought for the Day
January 11

To you, Lord I will offer a sacrifice of praise.
How shall I make a return to the LORD for all the good he has done for me?

Our family is so blessed that it is almost impossible to list all of the ways God has showered us with his love and care. While we have had our share of heartache we have been sustained through it by our strong faith in God. The blessings I would like to share with you today are the good news we received regarding our grandnephew and our wonderful Christmas Holiday Celebration.

Our grandnephew is almost 6 now. When he was 3 he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. Unfortunately he was too young for radiation therapy. He had chemotherapy and an operation, but the tumor reappeared months later. By the time he was 4 he was able to withstand radiation. He has had three MRIs since then and just before Christmas his mother was told that Robert's cancer is in remission. What a Blessing for Robert and family!
Our Christmas was made extra special because our Marine grandson was home on leave from Okinawa. God watched over him while he was in Okinawa and Afghanistan during the past 15 months. Now he was home safely with us, even if it is just for a month. We were all together (19 of us) on Christmas day. While it was hectic, it was such a pleasure to watch our grandson beam with pride as he played with his niece & nephew (2 & 5) and got to know his 10 month old nephew. Of course his parents were in their glory, too.
Please keep Robert in your prayers for continued remission of his cancer. While the tumor left him with some minor motor problems, Robert is a well adjusted, happy 5 year old. Pray, too, for our grandson's safety, as well as the safety of all the servicemen and women in harm's way. May your new year be blessed; and may you find time to offer a "sacrifice of praise" to the Lord.
